Today we talked a  bit about instruments and sensors... Curt Tilmes from
GSFC provided me some info on the difference:

The Suomi NPP satellite has 5 instruments: VIIRS, CrIS, ATMS, OMPS and
CERES.

The OMPS instrument has 3 sensors: Nadir Mapper, Nadir Profiler
and a Limb Profiler:

We can argue (I'm sure you have) over which is an 'instrument'
and which is a 'sensor' and which is a 'detector'.
