[ESIP-CF] A couple of things

Hello all,

I recently was confronted with a use case aimed at helping IOOS data providers improve their service metadata. They are writing these metadata as Sensor Observation Service Capabilities documents and we are translating them to ISO and evaluating their completeness using our rubric (see http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/metadata/published/NOAA/IOOS/iso/ for the records with SOS in their titles). The problem is, once we translate the capabilities documents to ISO (apply our secret sauce), the data providers don't recognize the dialect. They need to know the crosswalk from SOS to ISO in order to make improvements at the source.

As I started to edit yet another wiki page with the crosswalk - I thought "wait, haven't I done this before?"... Of course I had as part of the work of the Documentation Cluster... So I went back and did some work on our crosswalk data and, in the process, finally got a display I sort of like. I modified the xsl to create ESIP Wiki pages from the crosswalk xml and added a bunch of pages to the ESIP Wiki Documentation Connections Category (http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/Category:Documentation_Connections). I have attached the current crosswalk and the xsl and a couple of html representations...

Please take a look at these to see what I have left out and let me know if you need to make corrections... Best to make these are made in the original XML (which has also become easier!)...

Also, some information about the sessions for the winter meeting got lost in translation. The idea is to have two sessions:

1) CF Unleashed will include discussions by people that are using CF outside of the realm of Climate and Forecast grids (its original home). This will include (hopefully): satellite data, lidar and radial data, documentation of in-situ data, documentation objects, and other topics that come up.

2) ISO Standards update will include a discussion of recent developments and changes nin ISO land. This will include the revision of 19115 and support for xml implementations of that revison, the new data quality implementation (19157), and the revision of 19115-2 (acquisition and instruments).

Please let the group know if you have other ideas or contributions to these...

Ted
