BTW -- Nick White, Director of Goddard Space Flight Center's Sciences
and Exploration Directorate just sent out a note requesting all GSFC
scientists create a unique researcher ID within the Thomson Reuters
Web of Knowledge and ensure that their publications are correctly
linked under that ID.

The note mentioned something about "performance evaluations".  We
can continue to push data citations and tying data into those
metrics as well.

I think that's a positive sign for persisent identifiers...
