Durham¹s Earth Day 

Saturday, April 22nd

Durham Central Park, 502 Foster St., across from the historic Durham
Athletic Park (DAP,) in downtown Durham.

A day filled with hands-on environmental education activities and
demonstrations, a diverse mix of music, great food, a climbing wall, the
Scrap Exchange, Paperhand Puppet Intervention and the Procession of the
Species, storytelling, and much more.

The Mission:  To bring together the Triangle community in a festive
atmosphere every year to raise awareness of environmental issues, share
knowledge, and promote positive action that protects and enhances the
quality of life for Triangle residents.  The festival will celebrate our
community¹s environmental successes.

Creek Clean Up to Celebrate Earth Day! (4/22)
The Friends of South Ellerbe Creek is seeking volunteers to join them for a
creek clean-up On Saturday, April 22. 

This event will be part of the City's Earth Day celebration. Volunteers will
meet at 10AM at the corner of Green and Ruffin (five blocks east of East
Campus).
You'll be picking up litter from the eastern branch of South Ellerbe (which
flows north out of downtown, towards Trinity Park and Northgate Park).
The City will provide trash bags and work gloves.  You don't have to get
your feet wet and City trucks will haul the trash to the landfill (saving
you the trip).

The Friends of South Ellerbe Creek is an informal group of citizens
dedicated to conserving and enhancing the scenic, recreational, natural and
historic qualities of South Ellerbe Creek and its landscape in the
upper-Neuse River Basin.
