INC'ers,

If you're not already on a City board or commission, I highly recommend that you consider applying for a position on this one!!!!!!!

I believe you will find it not only rewarding intellectually but also personally gratifying.

Subject: [pac4] Fwd: Vacancies: Durham Citizen's Advisory Committee

The Durham Citizens' Advisory Committee (CAC) is currently seeking to fill four (4) vacancies due to members' resignations and terms expiring.

The primary purposes of the CAC are to (1) advise the Durham City Council and the Board of County Commissioners on housing and community development and (2) to facilitate citizen participation in the planning and implementation of the Consolidated Plan and Annual Action Plan. In support of these objectives, the CAC works very closely with the Department of Housing and Community Development as well as other local housing and community groups to identify the needs of the low to moderate income people of Durham City and County, facilitate citizen participation in the annual awards of Community Development Block Grant & HOME funding, and assess the results of the recipients of these funds.

Because the CAC advises the City Council and Board of County Commissioners directly, this committee provides an incredible opportunity for interested members of the Durham community to have a profound effect on the effective and efficient use of federal funding in the areas of housing and community development. Service to our community in this area requires a strong commitment to understanding the needs of the low to moderate income folks in our community and translating these needs into recommendations to our community leaders.

If this opportunity to make Durham an even greater place to live sounds interesting to you, I personally encourage you to visit the following link and apply. Applications are currently due by June 30, 2006 so please do not hesitate to pursue this opportunity now!

For additional information and applications please visit: http://www.durhamnc.gov/departments/clerk/vacancies.cfm

Kind regards,

Chuck Clifton
Chairman, Durham Citizens' Advisory Committee
