INC NEWS - [pac2] Equal time for those of us opposed to the BIO-LAB in Butner?

As noted earlier, INC frequently (and as a custom) offers opportunities for many sides of an issue to come and talk in an open informal setting.
It's generally hoped that these sessions are informational and thought provoking for those who want to learn more about their community and surroundings.
But the focus of INC has always been to be a forum for these discussions, not a jury to deliberate a decision or final verdict.
In the past, INC has historically taken positions on processes and procedures but rarely on individual issues that pit one neighborhood (or neighbor) against another, much less one municipality against another.
It'd be my hope that this tradition continue.
Whether or not you agree or disagree with this particular issue, INC is providing a venue for Durham residents to learn more about it and make up their own minds about what they feel is the right (or wrong) thing to do.
This is my own opinion but it's based on the experience and years of involvement with INC.

Barry is quite correct on all counts.
I've forwarded that message to the INC Listserv.
INC always tries to offer a balanced forum, so include speakers for and against issues.
It meets tonight at 7pm at the Herald Sun building off Pickett Rd

Since this refers to an agenda item for the Inter-Neighborhood council meeting, i think the INC list is probably a more appropriate place to discuss this, no?
PAC2 list moderators and board members are probably scratching their heads right now wondering how this got started.
i know there's some overlap between the PAC2 board and INC board, so perhaps someone from INC is reading this and will confirm this, but my understanding is that INC had a presentation against the Bio Lab back in December or January, and tonight's presentation was sought by members of that group in the interest of equal time.

dear christine,
thank you for so eloquently expressing opposition to the bio defense lab.
i, too, am against this lab. the no-bio people should be given equal time
whenever the proponents for the lab speak. i live beside the Eno River
parklands and treasure the open space we have for quality of life for wildlife,
humans, and rocks and rills. one slip up at this lab would be disastrous. and
as you point out, even if things are managed without slip up, this is not
proper use for our precious water resources or how i want animals abused for
research.
