I've had 2 folks suggest the amendment is needed for the proposed hotel at the McPherson Hospital site

I dunno -- it has never struck me as particularly good procedure to change the code when one development has a problem, especially in a way that gives no indication of what conditions might make removing a ban is OK and when it isn't.

Just my opinion on a Friday night. (-:

Small clarification on this: the current ordinance says access has to be a major or minor thoroughfare. I think the DRB approval is pretty much useless as the proposal gives no direction on WHY they would approve or disapprove the connection. On the other hand, I don't know of any place where developers would want to put a hotel with the access through residential streets -- would defer to neighborhoods along I-85 or 15-501, for example, to figure out if this is a real issue.

What this proposes is that it requires a minor use permit (something DRB can issue?) if the traffic to a proposed hotel goes through a residential street.
