You can check on whether you are registered at the correct place, that your registration that you thought you did at DMV went through, and your name is spelled correctly by checking
http://www.canivote.org/
It will take you to
http://www.co.durham.nc.us/departments/elec/votersearch/index.cfm
If you check on your name, you are OK if the search finds you and the STATUS at the bottom right column is ACTIVE. If not, you can fix stuff at early voting (Forest View, Duke and the East Library have had the lightest turn-out if you are worried about lines). For some "status categories," you might need to bring some documentation to vote if you do it on Nov 4.
The number of folks who are not "ACTIVE VOTERS" is small (less than 1%?), but you don't want to be in that minority.
