Kids Voting still needs more volunteers to staff all 56 precincts for Kids Voting on November 4.

DSA has now been adopted. Brogden Middle now needs to be adopted along with Morehead, Northern & Lakewood. See the email below for details.

If you even have a few hours to help kids cast a vote that day, contact us right away. Thank You!

Take care,

Donna

Hi everyone,

Kids Voting Durham is a wonderful non-partisan program that provides a realistic voting experience for children in Durham on Election Day and year-round civics Education. The children vote at a Kids Voting Booth on November 4th at the same polling locations as the adults. The votes are tallied and the results are published. It is a great experience for kids and for parents.

Kids Voting is try to staff all 56 Durham precincts with a Kids Voting Booth, so all Durham children have the chance to participate and vote and we are really close! Volunteers help children complete and cast their ballot in the kids voting ballot box.

We have 4 very important precincts that still need volunteers-Durham School of the Arts, Morehead Montessori Magnet, Northern High School, and Lakewood Elementary. Children, youth and families are welcome to participate. Some of our booths are run by youth groups, some by workplaces and other groups-a good team activity. You can help by:

1) Adopting one of these precincts----Families, individuals, or groups (youth, school, church, neighborhood) can adopt these final four precincts. All materials are provided. If you are a group, there will be a sign recognizing you at the polling site.

2) Becoming a precinct captain and coordinate individual volunteers who have already called and want to help.

3) Volunteering to fill in a 2 or more hour time slot at a booth in a location where you are needed. (Children are welcome to come-a great out of school activity!)

If you want to be part of the excitement and energy around the 2008 Election, this is a great way to get involved! Please contact Carolyn Kreuger directly if you are willing to help at 560-7321 or carolyn at kidsvotingdurham.org.

Take care,

Donna

P.S. Middle and High School students also have the option of voting in the Kids Voting election ONLINE from now to Nov. 4, by going to http://www.kidsvotingdurham.org/
