Most City of Durham Offices Closed for Thanksgiving Holiday

Durham Residents Asked to Note Changes in Multiple City Services

 

Durham, N.C. - Most City of Durham offices will be closed Thursday,
November 27 and Friday, November 28 in observance of the Thanksgiving
holiday.  Durham residents are asked to take note of the following
changes in City services:

 

Recycling, Yard Waste, Solid Waste, and White Goods Curbside Collections

The City's Department of Solid Waste Management will have no curbside
collection of recycling, yard waste, solid waste, or white goods on
Thursday, November 27. Collection for regular Thursday customers will
instead occur on Wednesday, November 26.  Friday's recycling collection
will remain as normally scheduled on Friday, November 28; however,
garbage and yard waste collection for Friday customers will instead
occur on Saturday, November 29.  Residents should place their carts
and/or white goods at the curb by 7 a.m. the day of their scheduled pick
up.

 

Waste Disposal and Recycling Center

The City's Waste Disposal and Recycling Center (Transfer Station) will
be closed on Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28.  It will
reopen Saturday, November 29 with extended hours from 7:30 a.m. to 3
p.m.  

 

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center

The City's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center will be closed on
Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28.  It will reopen under its
normal schedule on Saturday, November 29.  

 

Durham Area Transit Authority

On Thursday, November 27, Durham Area Transit Authority (DATA) and DATA
ACCESS will operate on its holiday schedule in which service is provided
from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.  DATA's administrative office will be closed
on Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28 and will reopen under
its normal schedule on Monday, December 1.  For more information
regarding DATA's routes and schedules, contact the GoTriangle Regional
Call Center at (919) 485-RIDE.

 

Durham Parks and Recreation

Durham Parks and Recreation (DPR) will close its facilities on Thursday,
November 27 and Friday, November 28.  DPR's administrative office,
recreation facilities, and indoor pools will reopen under their normal
schedules on Saturday, November 29. 

 

Durham One Call

Durham One Call will be closed on Thursday, November 27 and Friday,
November 28.  However, residents may complete an online service request
by visiting the City's Web site at www.durhamnc.gov/departments/onecall
or by leaving a message with Durham One Call's answering service.
Requests for City services left with the answering service or via the
online service request form will be forwarded to Durham One Call on
Monday, December 1.
