Durham One Call Adjusts Hours of Operation  

New Hours Take Effect November 16

DURHAM, N.C. - Beginning Monday, November 16, 2009, users of Durham One
Call should note that the center is adjusting its hours of operation to
8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays.

 

According to Joanne Harper, acting manager of Durham One Call, the new
hours are reflective of the call volume coming into the center.  "Our
call volume from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. was very low, so in an effort to
utilize our staff time more efficiently, we moved our opening time
forward one hour," Harper said.  "Now, we'll be better staffed for peak
calling times, which occur during normal business hours."

 

According to Harper, callers contacting the center outside of normal
business hours may leave a message that will be retrieved the following
business day.  Residents may also use the City's Web site at 
www.durhamnc.gov/departments/onecall
<http://www.durhamnc.gov/departments/onecall/>  to submit service
requests to the center.

 

About Durham One Call
Durham One Call is the centralized contact center for non-emergency
information and services offered by the City of Durham. Prior to the
center opening, residents had to call the correct City department to
request a service or get information about City services, meetings, or
events.  Now, residents either complete a request online at 
www.durhamnc.gov/departments/onecall
<http://www.durhamnc.gov/departments/onecall/>  or dial (919) 560-1200
to speak to a customer service representative, who either answers the
caller's question or dispatches a service request to the appropriate
department.  A Durham One Call representative is also located in the
City Hall lobby and Spanish-speaking representatives are available at
the center as well.
