Hi Josie,

Last month, North Carolina's little-known building code council was poised
to take a critical step forward for green buildings and reduced global
warming pollution.

*And then they didn't. At the last minute, a few powerful developers weighed
in, and the proposal was defeated by a vote of 8 to 6.*

There's still time, though, for Gov. Bev Perdue to correct the council's
mistake and enact standards that would make new homes and businesses 30
percent more energy efficient.

*Click here, and ask the governor to make sure North Carolina's new
buildings are green.<http://www.environmentnorthcarolina.org/action/our-second-chance?id4=ES>
*

For a year, the NC Building Code Council has contemplated a proposal to make
new buildings greener starting in 2012, reducing the state's energy
consumption and cutting pollution. Officials also estimate it will save
consumers $250 each year. [1]

The plan was on the track to approval, and would have made North Carolina a
leader in the path toward greener building codes.

Next week, when the council convenes again, we need to make sure Gov. Perdue
weighs in.

*Click the link below to e-mail the governor and ask her to make North
Carolina's buildings greener.*

Then, ask your family and friends to do the same.

Sincerely,
