Please try to Attend.  We need support and input from other neighborhoods.
As many of you know, the Durham Rescue Mission has proposed a major expansion in the Golden Belt National Register Historic District.  The original plans, which called for the demolition of all of the historic houses on Rescue Mission property, the closing of streets, and the building of fences around a gated complex, aroused opposition in the neighborhood.
DADS (Durham Area Designers) a non-profit organization made up of architects, designers, landscape architects, and other professionals agreed to host two design workshops that would consider the needs of both the Rescue Mission and the neighborhood and attempt to come up with a better plan.
In order to make that happen, we need as many creative ideas as possible.  But we also need other neighborhoods to demonstrate that they care about this part of Durham.
Your presence and your contributions will be much appreciated.  Please forward this to your neighborhood listserv if possible.
Thanks, and I hope to see you tonight.
