Candidates to Submit Interest for Sheriff Seat   

September 28, 2011

Durham, NC - Recently, Durham County Sheriff Worth Hill made his plans to step down public.  On Monday, October 3, 2011, Sheriff Hill will discuss his resignation with the Durham Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) during their Work Session at 9 a.m.  His seat will become vacant at the end of the year.   
 
Three candidates, Mike Andrews, Tony Butler and Roy Taylor have formally registered their interest in the Office of Sheriff with the BOCC.  
 
Commissioner Michael Page, chairman of the Durham BOCC, requests that interested individuals submit a written statement of interest to Michelle Parker-Evans, clerk to the board for the Durham BOCC, at mparker-evans at durhamcountync.gov.  Letters must be submitted in writing by 8:30 a.m. on Monday, October 3.  In addition, interested candidates must sign up to speak during the Citizen Comments Section at the Monday, October 3 Work Session. Candidates will be given five minutes to address the BOCC concerning their qualifications.
