New City Hall This Week Begins January 10

City Hall This Week will debut a new show tonight at 8 p.m. on DTV8 (Time Warner Cable channel 8 or 97-5) as well as on demand at http://www.YouTube.com/CityofDurhamNC.

Durham Residents Invited to Weigh In On Budget through Coffee with Council Sessions
Durham residents interested in making their voice heard on the spending priorities for next year's budget are invited to attend one of several Coffee with Council sessions that will be held in the coming months. Five sessions will be held between February 8 and March 15 at various locations throughout the city.

City Council Considers First Round of Public Feedback on Annual Action Plan
The City Council is considering feedback offered by residents and organizations regarding Durham's Annual Action Plan. The first of two public hearings on the plan was held on January 6. The plan is Durham's application to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the upcoming year for federal funds meant to address housing needs. It outlines the actions the City is taking with those funds and makes sure the priorities put forward in the plan match the goals of the grants that are being awarded.

Durham's 911 Center Earns Important Designation
The Durham Emergency Communications Center has earned an important designation. It is now a partner in the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children Missing Kids Readiness Project. The project promotes best practices for responding to calls of missing, abducted, and sexually exploited children. Durham is one of only 11 centers in the state to receive this recognition.

Construction Set to Begin on Church Street Parking Deck
Construction is getting underway this winter on some significant repairs to the Church Street Parking Deck. The estimated six-month project will include structural repairs throughout the deck, as well as improvements to make it compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. During the course of the project, both monthly and hourly parking may be affected by the construction at various times. Construction noise may also be heard by businesses and residences nearby.
