[Durham INC] Let the City Council Know Your Views on Solicitation

On this past Monday, the City Council took up proposed amendments to Durham's solicitation ordinance.

The Council needs to know your views on this issue. Some advocates say the current ordinance is too restrictive and the amendments are needed to permit more solicitation. 

Others feel that permitting more panhandling enables a destructive lifestyle and creates traffic safety issues.

You might want to look at the discussion on the Spare A Change website, an InterNeighborhood Council initiative. http://www.canyouspareachange.org/. ,

Most importantly make sure the Council hears your voice and those of as many citizens as possible, not just advocates.
