[Durham INC] Last week to register to vote in May

The May 6 election is the only chance you get to vote on school board (there's no primary and no run-off so the May 6th winner who is elected).
This year, you cannot register at One Stop Early Voting so Thursday is the last day to register if you want to vote on May 6.  You can still do an update at early voting (if your name has never been right in the voting rolls or you moved within the county, for example).
Three easy step to register (or check your registration -- always a good idea since even if the Board of Elections is 99.99% accurate, you don't want to be the one in 10,000 for whom something went wrong):
Go to https://www.ncsbe.gov/webapps/voter_search/ and enter your name to see if you are already registered.If you are registered and the information is still accurate, thank you.  You still might want to go half-way down the page and click on "my sample ballot" since with re-districting, you may have some new races to vote in.If you think you should be registered but aren't there, it is probably something simple like someone typed you in as a 1-L Michele instead of a 2-L one.  Since you can't register at One Stop Early Voting, this has gotten more complicated.  Try the "sounds like" buttons, check all the boxes below the name, and make sure you put the first name where it says "first name" (I always get it wrong).  If none of this works, I guess I would just send in a new registration with a note that I am pretty sure I should have been registered. If you aren't registered or there is something that needs to be updated in your registration, go to Step 2 (or plan on going to early voting if it is a simple update).You can get a registration on line at http://www.ncsbe.gov/ncsbe/Voter-Information/VR-Form.  Make sure you sign it and fill in all the required blanks.Mail to Durham County Board of Elections (PO Box 868, Durham, N.C. 27702) with postmark no later than April 11.
