Voting for the 2014 Partisan Primary and School Board Begins Tomorrow

Durham, NC - May 5, 2014 -
Early voting wrapped up this weekend with just over 7,000 total early voters. In less than 24 hours, citizens will line up to cast their votes in the 2014 Partisan Primary and School Board Election. Tuesday, May 6, 2014, is Election Day and all 57 Durham County polling locations will be open tomorrow, from 6:30a.m. until 7:30p.m., for registered citizens to vote.

Before coming to vote, all citizens should note the following tips:

Confirm your polling place prior to Election Day. Photo identification is not required for this election. Precinct officials will give voters a document to review and ask if they have an acceptable ID for 2016 prior to voting. For voters that state they do not have an ID, precinct officials will provide information on how they can obtain one free of charge.

The laws related to provisional voting have also changed and states that a provisional ballot shall not be counted if the voter did not vote in the proper precinct. The exception to this is voters that have moved to a new precinct.Local contests on all ballots (with the exception of 17 year old voters) will include one School Board, and District Court Judge contests. Democratic ballots will also have the Durham County Sheriff and District Attorney contests. There are several state and federal seats being contested but will vary depending on the district(s) where the voter reside. View sample ballots at www.dconc.gov/elect.
The busiest times at the polls tend to be 7:00a.m. until 9:00a.m., during lunch, and 5p.m. until the polls close at 7:30p.m.
