Durham's 2014 Gang Assessment Paints New Picture of Gang Activity in the City
Durham's 2014 Gang Assessment is offering an updated look at gang activity. Gang Reduction Strategy Manager Jim Stuit explains what the assessment found and what recommendations are being made to address those findings.

Security Camera Installation Soon Underway on Portion of American Tobacco Trail
Security cameras will soon be installed along the portion of the American Tobacco Trail between Morehead Street and Enterprise Street. As part of the project, the City's Transportation Department has installed poles for the cameras and Duke Energy will install power to the poles over the next couple of weeks. The Blackwell Street Management Company will then install the cameras.

Local Historic Property Owners Are Invited to Weigh In on Proposed Changes to Local Review Criteria
Owners of local historic landmarks, or of property within a local historic district, are invited to weigh in on proposed changes to the local review criteria. Two public meetings will be held in the next couple of weeks to receive feedback on the proposed changes. Find out how the criteria are used, who will be affected by the changes, and when the public meetings will be held.

High Ropes Course Discovery Day July 19
A high ropes discovery day will be held on Saturday, July 19 at Bethesda Park. Participants can explore the course and overcome a variety of obstacles - some reaching 55 feet in the air. Anyone ages seven and up can participate, and pre-registration is required. The cost is $13 for non-city residents and $8 for city residents.
