Poverty Survey Conducted in Northeast Central Durham
Volunteers and City leaders are going door-to-door to get an accurate picture of those living in poverty in Northeast Central Durham. The effort is part of Mayor William V. "Bill" Bell's neighborhood-by-neighborhood, year-by-year anti-poverty campaign. The volunteers have been surveying residents to get a better understanding of the connections that need to be made, and the services that need to be offered, for those living in poverty.


Raleigh-Durham International Airport Continues to Make Significant Impact on the Triangle
Members of the Raleigh-Durham International Airport Authority board presented their annual report to the City Council on October 9. Some of the most noteworthy achievements include serving more than nine million passengers, ranking as the 30th largest international passenger travel market, and ranking as the 38th largest passenger domestic travel market in the country.

Durham Teen Center & Durham Crisis Response Center Team Up to Prevent Teen Dating Violence
The Durham Teen Center and the Durham Crisis Response Center are teaming up to prevent teen dating violence. Safe Dates workshops will be held every fourth Monday through April at the Durham Teen Center. Topics will include healthy relationships, signs of dating violence, and what consent really means.

Durham Fire Department Holds 9th Biennial Awards Ceremony
The Durham Fire Department held its 9th Biennial Awards Ceremony honoring exceptional service by firefighters and personnel from 2012-2014. Awards included Unit Citations, Medical Life Saves, Commendations, Meritorious Service Awards, the Fire Prevention Award, the Chief's Award, Special Ops Awards, and Advance Life Support.
