Residents Invited to Learn About Improving Durham's Bicycle Friendliness

What:              Bicycle Friendly Community Program Presentation

Fast Facts:

*         Bicycle Friendly Community Specialist Steve Clark with the League of American Bicyclists is traveling around the country to help communities become more bicycle friendly, and Durham is on his organization's priority list to visit in 2014.



*         Clark's presentation will discuss best practices from around the nation and provide feedback on how Durham can improve upon its Bicycle Friendly Community designation, which is currently at the Bronze level.



*         The presentation is free and open to the public. It will also be televised live on Durham Television Network (Time Warner Cable channel 8, 97-5 and AT&T U-verse channel 99).


*         In addition to his community presentation, Clark's visit will include a hands-on technical assessment of the city's bicycling infrastructure through a group bicycle ride/audit and review of efforts to encourage cycling as well as a post-visit Bicycle Friendly Community ScoreCard that will provide a quick action plan and his organization's initial assessment, focusing on priority actions that will have the greatest impact.
