[Durham INC] Call for Agenda Items

Hey Phil, I forgot I had one very quick (hopefully) additional item for the
agenda - a two-sentence enquiry/announcement that this is the annual end of
year donor drive for ECWA and that they/I am requesting those neighborhoods
so inclined/in the watershed to consider a membership donation for the
coming year. Duke Park, Watts-H and Northgate have all made this pledge and
increased their contribution for this year - this will aid an upcoming
special land acquisition adjacent to one of the existing preserve lands in
2015.

Thanks if a two minute spot could be made for this one! Drive closes Dec
31st.

Appreciatively,

Deb

Hello INC Delegates,

Our combined November and December INC delegates meeting is Tuesday,
December 9th, at 7 pm. If you have items for the agenda, please let me know
by the end of the day on Sunday 12/7.

At this point, we have the following topics on the agenda:

-- Brief presentation by Wanda Boone, TRY (Together for Resilient Youth).
It mainly focuses on what concerned residents and neighborhoods can do about
convenience stores that may not be enforcing (or following) laws on their
premises.
-- Vote on Solar Resolution. Please see materials recently circulated to
the listserv by Debra Hawkins.

-- Committee reports, including INC Neighborhood Hero Award developments

-- Neighborhood reports

Please also be prepared to provide your opinion on the relative importance
of the following INC functions:

-- Knowledge sharing

-- Advocacy

-- Social opportunities

-- Other (Please specify)

Depending on what additional agenda items may be requested by Sunday and
matters that arise during the meeting, the goal is for a short meeting to
allow more of the usual socializing. Full presentations are scheduled for
January and February.

As a follow up to Assistant Chief Sarvis' presentation on the DPD Strategic
Plan, attached is the final version shared at the Bike Pedestrian Advisory
Commission meeting. BPAC's 2015 draft goals include "Working with Durham
Police Department to identify and increase opportunities to enforce traffic
laws that will make walking and bicycling safer." This is a welcome overlap
to the Assistant Chief's commitments to report on traffic enforcement
activities to BPAC and to work with INC on operationalizing portions of the
strategic plan relevant to the INC resolution on traffic enforcement on
neighborhood streets. INC looks forward to working with DPD and BPAC in
these endeavors.

Cheers, Philip Azar

President, InterNeighborhood Council of Durham
