Given that this is the second spill already this year, maybe INC should get a presentation or info to cascade to list-serves about:What can residents do to help the sewer system? What is the city doing -- and what additional resources are needed -- to prevent sewer blocks? I have seen Chapel Hill's sewer cleaner machine at events there. Are there ways to get damage from sewage into one's insurance policy?

City of Durham Contains Sewer Spill at River Forest Park

DURHAM, N.C. - The City of Durham Water Management Department reports that a sanitary sewer manhole, located on Wake Robin Lane inside
River Forest Park, was found overflowing at 1:30 p.m. on February 3, 2015.

Approximately 432,000 gallons of sewage spilled from the sanitary sewer system into an unnamed tributary of the Eno River. The overflow
was caused by roots and grease that clogged the sewer system. The overflow ended at 3:30 p.m. on February 3, 2015.

The surrounding area is under remediation and there are no immediate visible adverse environmental impacts or hazards to persons or
 property.

The N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources has been notified.
