Dear Neighbors and INC members,

I would like to see a moratorium put of all new towers (including the addition of antennas to existing towers and buildings, etc) until the industry adopts safety and health standards that reflect the huge body of research showing that wireless radiation - at levels 1000s of times below the standards set in the U.S. - is dangerous to our health.

Studies show that exposure well below what our standared allow causes DNA damage and interference with DNA repair, blood brain barrier damage, nervous system disorders, electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS), increased incidences of cancer near cell towers, increased risk of Alzheimer's, ALS, irreversible infertility, sleep disorders, heart problems and many other health problems.

Current exposure standards in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. are thousands of times more lenient than in other countries. Our standards only protect us from heating (ionizing) effects of the radiation, not from the biological effects that come from long term exposure to non-ionizing radiation. Many other countries have standards that are at least 1000 times more protective than ours - reflecting the reality of the health dangers of constant exposure to wireless technology.

A scientist who is an expert on the health effects of wireless wrote the following report to the Police Federation of England and Wales:

I would like the tower industry to construct to the latest standards for building, structural, electrical, and safety codes and all other codifying objective standards reasonably related to health and safety and land use. Some people have told me that these regulations are naturally assumed in the UDO. I think it would be a big mistake to rely on any developer, whose business concern is making money, to comply with safety standards that may cost him more. Our elected officials need to require a listing of more specific safety regulations in the new ordinance law.
