[Durham INC] INC-list Digest, Vol 129, Issue 6

I would say that I'm not happy to see this still happening but I am just
for the fact that it isn't ONLY happening in East Durham. We keep hearing
every 6 months or so about this happening and only when new residents
happen to mention it at a meeting or something. I moved in 2 years ago and
had our mail stopped for a period of time. And apparently about 10-15 years
ago they started doing this in East Durham and many of the residents
converted over, since they were being threatened to have their mail
stopped.

It does seem petty to be worried over, but it is also ridiculous and as
stated previously, creates a problem when you have a street that is all on
different methods of delivery, especially a street that has legal on-street
parking. And for some of our residents that are located near Maureen Joy
School, who have parents park in front of their house all the time. How can
you control who parks in front of your house and blocks your mailbox? And
yet, your mail is withheld (and sometimes "lost). Mail carriers do not have
the authority to force you to change or to withhold your mail and should
have consequences for not doing their job within the appropriate
boundaries.

I want to thank Sen. Woodard for his responsiveness is getting this dealt
with, but I do feel like it is more of a systemic issue than just a couple
"rogue" mail carriers like has been suggested. I really wish there would be
a way for the whole neighborhood to get a complete "reset" so we can go
back to how it was before these "rogue" mail carriers started intimidating
people and putting their little fliers in our mailboxes.
