City of Durham Cancels Trash & Recycling Collections Due to Icy Streets
Collections to be Delayed by Two Days Week of Jan. 25-29

DURHAM, N.C. - The City of Durham Solid Waste Management Department<http://nc-durham.civicplus.com/918/Holiday-Schedule> has suspended curbside trash and recycling collections on Monday, January 25 due to continued icy conditions on many neighborhood streets.

Collections that were scheduled for Friday, January 22 will now take place on Tuesday, January 26, road conditions permitting. Residents should also note that regular trash and recycling collections will also be delayed by two days for the entire week of January 25-29 (i.e. Monday customers to receive collections on Wednesday, Tuesday customers to receive collections on Thursday, Wednesday customers to receive collections on Friday, and Thursday customers to receive collections on Saturday). In the event the department can collect more quickly than anticipated, residents are asked to leave their carts at the curb by 7 a.m. on their regular collection day.

Since collections for this week will now focus on curbside trash and recycling, yard waste, bulky items, and exempt collections are suspended for all customers until next week on their regularly scheduled collection day. Exempt customers who have full carts and cannot wait until next week should contact Durham One Call<http://durhamnc.gov/1439/Durham-One-Call> at (919) 560-1200 and the department will attempt collection.

The City's Waste Disposal and Recycling Center<http://durhamnc.gov/878/Waste-Disposal-Recycling-Center> will also be closed on Monday, January 25. If road and site conditions allow, the center will reopen under its normal schedule on Tuesday, January 26.
