Durham Recognized for Effectively Ending Chronic Homelessness Among Disabled Veterans
The federal government is recognizing Durham for effectively ending chronic homelessness<http://durhamnc.gov/DocumentCenter/View/12341> among disabled veterans. Plans to Convert Part of U.S. 70 to Limited Access Freeway Move Forward

The City Council received an update on the project during its September 22 work session.

City Council Offers Endorsement to Extension of Durham-Orange Light Rail Transit Project
The City Council is offering its endorsement to plans to extend the Durham-Orange Light Rail Transit project<http://cityordinances.durhamnc.gov/OnBaseAgendaOnline/Documents/ViewDocument/WS-Published%20Attachment%20-%2011406%20-%20PRESENTATION%20-%20GOTRIANGLE%20PRESENTATION%20-%2010_3_.pdf?meetingId=141&documentType=Agenda&itemId=1690&publishId=7142&isSection=false> closer to North Carolina Central University (NCCU). The addition to the route would add a 0.6-mile extension along Alston Avenue south to NCCU.

Edison Johnson Aquatic Center to Close November Through February
The Edison Johnson Aquatic Facility<http://durhamnc.gov/DocumentCenter/View/12245> will close for the winter no later than November 7, and will remain closed until mid-February so that a new dehumidification unit can be installed.
