Regional Long-Range Transportation Plans Expected to Include Significant Projects for Durham
Significant transportation projects that will benefit Durham are expected to be included in the region's long-range plans. The City and its regional transportation partners are weighing in on how the projects included in the 2018-2027 Transportation Improvement Program<http://cityordinances.durhamnc.gov/OnBaseAgendaOnline/Documents/ViewDocument/Final-Published%20Attachment%20-%2011401%20-%20MEMO%20-%20FY%202018-2017%20TIP%20-%2010_3_2016.pdf?meetingId=143&documentType=Agenda&itemId=1760&publishId=7693&isSection=false> should be prioritized.

City Continues Efforts to Upgrade Fleet of GoDurham Buses
The City is continuing its efforts to upgrade its fleet of GoDurham buses. In the second purchase installment<http://cityordinances.durhamnc.gov/OnBaseAgendaOnline/Documents/ViewDocument/Final-Published%20Attachment%20-%2011397%20-%20MEMO%20-%20PURCHASE%20AUTHORIZATION%20-%20BUSES%20FOR.pdf?meetingId=143&documentType=Agenda&itemId=1767&publishId=7688&isSection=false> in a five-year contract, $1.4 million will be spent to buy three new buses. By the time the upgrade project is complete, 27 replacement and new buses will have been added to the service.

City Funds to be Used to Help Pay for Much-Needed Roundabout
City funds will now be used to help pay for a much-needed roundabout project in south Durham<http://cityordinances.durhamnc.gov/OnBaseAgendaOnline/Documents/ViewDocument/Final-Published%20Attachment%20-%2011402%20-%20MEMO%20-%20BARBEE%20HERNDON%20ROUNDABOUT%20AGREEMENT.pdf?meetingId=143&documentType=Agenda&itemId=1766&publishId=7694&isSection=false>. The NCDOT is scheduled to build a roundabout at the intersection of Barbee, Herndon and Massey Chapel roads. The project is expected to be $100,000 short of funding, and the NCDOT asked the City to help cover that cost.

Improvements at Beechwood Cemetery About to Get Underway
Improvements at Beechwood Cemetery<http://cityordinances.durhamnc.gov/OnBaseAgendaOnline/Documents/ViewDocument/Final-Published%20Attachment%20-%2011403%20-%20MEMO%20-%20BEECHWOOD%20CEMETERY%20IMPROVEMENTS%20CONT.pdf?meetingId=143&documentType=Agenda&itemId=1757&publishId=7710&isSection=false> are about to get underway with approximately $416,000 to be spent on entryway improvements, automatic security gates, additional parking spaces, and accessible sidewalks. The City-owned cemetery will remain open during construction, which is set to begin by late October and be completed by March.
