Durham Field Crews Study Eno River for Watershed Improvement Plan

Public Invited to Comment on Map of Selected Study Segments

DURHAM, N.C. - If you live near the Eno River watershed in Durham, you may notice field crews now at work as they conduct stream assessments to study the Eno River and its tributaries.

These scientists and engineers are recording details about stream banks, aquatic life, and water chemistry that will inform later phases of the City of Durham's Eno River Watershed Improvement Plan<https://durhamnc.gov/2890/Eno-River-Watershed-Improvement-Plan>. The team plans to cover 72 miles of stream over the next 20 days. Field workers will wear safety vests and carry identifying credentials as well as have project information sheets available upon request.

According to Project Manager Sandra Wilbur<mailto:Sandra.Wilbur at DurhamNC.gov> with the City's Public Works Department Stormwater & GIS Services Division<https://durhamnc.gov/692/Stormwater-GIS-Services>, public input is a key component of the watershed plan and residents are now invited to view the map and provide input about the selected stream segments<http://durhamnc.gov/DocumentCenter/View/13551>. "Posting the map for comment is just one step we are taking to involve our residents in this project," Wilbur said. "When people share observations about their neighborhood streams, it enriches the process and enhances the final plan."

Residents can read more about this project and receive updates by visiting the project Web page<http://durhamnc.gov/2890> as well as the division's Facebook page<http://www.facebook.com/DurhamNCStormwater> and Twitter feed<http://www.twitter.com/DurhamStormH2O>.
