Lobby US Senators re: Cabinet Nominees, Executive Orders including Muslim Ban

I urge you to contact Senator Richard Burr ASAP by calling (202) 224-3154 (best number). You can ask to speak with the staff person who deals with a particular issue. Another option for Burr that probably is easier to reach is via his Winston-Salem office at (800) 685-8916. To email Burr use: https://www.burr.senate.gov/ <https://www.burr.senate.gov/>

I urge you to contact Senator Thom Tillis as soon as possible at (202) 224-6342

“North Carolina’s Attorney General blasts Trump’s “crude ban” on refugees"
See more from Clayton Henkel’s article in NC Policy Watch’s progressive blog at: http://pulse.ncpolicywatch.org/2017/01/30/north-carolinas-attorney-general-blasts-trumps-crude-ban-refugees/#sthash.nBVEMuqH.dpuf <http://pulse.ncpolicywatch.org/2017/01/30/north-carolinas-attorney-general-blasts-trumps-crude-ban-refugees/#sthash.nBVEMuqH.dpuf>

Thank Attorney General Stein for his bold stance on the behalf of North Carolinians given that we live in a “red” state by writing him at info at JoshStein.org <mailto:info at joshstein.org> Elected officials need to hear when people support their positions.

US Supreme Court not decided yet whether to hear NC’s Special Election for 2017 due to gerrymandering (commonly referred to as redistricting) districts.

The Supreme Court options are:
1. to hear the NC case as a stand alone case,
2. hear the case combined with other cases having to do with redistricting, or
3. not hear the case.

On January 10th The Supreme Court placed a stay on North Carolina having Special Elections during 2017 for the NC legislature.

Alternative Gift Ideas for Valentines Day

1. An alternative to giving-gifts is to make a contribution to a non-profit organization in the name of a loved one, friend, co-worker or Trump (see Excel document attached for names and contact information, although this dates from 2014) and email about Election Groups (sent on October 26 or 27, 2016).
2. Another option is to treat your significant other or friend and visit a place together (see Day Trips in North Carolina and Virginia (both sent on March 19, 2016), and Triangle Exploring and Salisbury and Rowan Co. (sent June 25, 2015).
3. I believe that it is good to take advantage of live performances. (Some performance places use volunteers although in order to do so you have to sign up before the season begins and for a series of performances and not only for one performance (for example at the Carolina Theatre in downtown Durham and at Duke).
4. You could have a “girls,” “boys” or loved ones night out at a restaurant or cafe or dessert place (for example downtown Durham (see April 9, 2016).
5. You could pay for someone to take a class, see a personal trainer for a lesson, or a month at a gym.
6. Give a flowering plant (see favorite plants sent on Jan. 19, 2017). I have a list of plant nurseries (including nurseries that have catalogs and ship, garden centers and more plant resources.)
7. If you are going to buy a present I urge you to shop local, independent stores. School supplies and other kid products; donate school supplies; in-kind donations & re-sale stores (see August 13, 2015).

Moral March
Also known as the “Historic Thousands on Jones Street People’s Assembly” or HKonJ, this yearly call-to-action led by North Carolina's NAACP brings together NAACP branches, youth councils, college chapters, members of over 200 social justice organizations — not to mention thousands of justice-loving people from across the state and nation to stand against attacks on the people of North Carolina....

This is our chance to take literal steps against the state and national forces plotting to use lies about so-called "voter fraud" to create laws that silence vulnerable voters.

Beginning today, we’ll be flooding social media with a 15-day countdown to this incredible event, as organizations and individuals share why they’ll be marching in 2017.

downtown Raleigh

RSVP now and let us know you'll march with Democracy NC. <http://org2.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=QBqSWzdwuERyhgoEKhG%2FFW3P6WYtftuP>

Appalachian Photographs
Celebrate the 100th anniversary of his trip from England to Appalachia to study English Folk Music. From 1916-1918, English ballad collector Cecil Sharp traveled the Appalachian region to document variants of these songs and photographed some of the singers who shared their songs.
