Fast Facts:
*        The City of Durham Small Local Business Enterprise (SLBE) Program works to increase employment opportunities for residents while enhancing the community's tax base. The program promotes City contracting opportunities for small local construction, architectural, engineering, and surveying businesses located in Durham, Orange, Person, and Chatham Counties.

*        This free networking event will share more information about the City's SLBE Program, connect participants with other SLBE firms, and share upcoming contracting opportunities with the City. At the conclusion of the event, a reception with refreshments will also be provided.

*        Participants are asked to RSVP by May 2 to Equal Opportunity/Equity Assurance Specialist Angela Henderson by email<mailto:Angela.Henderson at durhamnc.gov> or by calling (919) 560-4180, ext. 17244.

About the Equal Opportunity/Equity Assurance Department
The City of Durham Equal Opportunity/Equity Assurance Department<http://durhamnc.gov/606/Equal-Opportunity-Equity-Assurance> (EO/EA) is responsible for the implementation of the City's Equal Business Opportunity Program. Responsibilities include implementation of race and gender neutral measures to facilitate the participation of Underutilized Business Enterprises (UBEs) in contracting activity with the City. The EO/EA Office also administers the Small Local Business Enterprise Program (SLBE), which works to increase employment opportunities for residents through recruitment, certification, and maintenance of the SLBE data bank, business development, City project compliance, monitoring, and reporting. Guided by the City's Strategic Plan<http://durhamnc.gov/183/Strategic-Plan>, the department ensures that its services support making Durham a great place to live, work, and play by focusing on a strong and diverse economy, assuring that City efforts are innovative and high-performing, and supporting the stewardship of the City's physical and environmental assets.
