Durham Seeks Continuum of Care Grant Funding Applications

Now Accepting Applications Until June 19 for Federal Funding to Help Homeless

DURHAM, N.C. - The City of Durham Community Development Department is now seeking additional organizations to apply for grants in the 2017 Continuum of Care (CoC) Homeless Grants Competition.

The ZoomGrants.com website<https://www.zoomgrants.com/> that the department is using to receive pre-applications re-opened on June 5 and will remain available to accept pre-applications through midnight on Monday, June 19.

Pre-applications and qualifications submitted previously are currently under review for threshold determination. The total amount of all pre-applications submitted earlier is below the amount of approximately $1.27 million for which the department anticipates Durham's CoC will be eligible to apply for in the 2017 competition.

Interested organizations should note that the Homeless Services Advisory Committee made permanent supportive housing for chronically homeless people the priority for use of any permanent housing bonus that Durham may receive in 2017.

The City's Community Development Department serves as the Durham CoC's lead agency, staffing the collaborative effort to address homelessness and facilitating the development of the community's annual CoC grant application to HUD. Information about HUD's Continuum of Care program is available at the HUD Exchange<https://www.hudexchange.info/programs/coc/>. For more information about Durham's CoC Program, visit the website<http://www.durhamopeningdoors.org/tools-for-change/continuum-of-care/> or contact Project Manager Lloyd Schmeidler with the City's Community Development Department at (919) 560-4570, ext. 22267 or by email<mailto:Lloyd.Schmeidler at durhamnc.gov>.
