Durham Hosts Eno River Watershed Improvement Plan Meeting
Public Information Session Set to Share Study Results and Gather Input

DURHAM, N.C. - Residents who want to learn about the efforts to improve the Eno River Watershed<https://durhamnc.gov/2890/Eno-River-Watershed-Improvement-Plan> should mark their calendars now to attend a November 2 public information session.

Hosted by the Stormwater and GIS Services Division with the City of Durham's Public Works Department, the session will be held on Thursday, November 2 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the cafeteria at the Durham Public Schools Staff Development Center, located at 2107 Hillandale Road. The purpose of the meeting is to present the results of fish and aquatic plant studies, share approaches for prioritizing improvement projects, and gather input from residents. Project staff are also gathering input through an online survey<http://bit.ly/enoplan> which is open now through November 15 at http://bit.ly/enoplan.

According to Sandra Wilbur<mailto:Sandra.Wilbur at DurhamNC.gov>, project manager with the Stormwater & GIS Services Division<http://durhamnc.gov/692/Stormwater-GIS-Services> with the City's Public Works Department, some of the field study results point to good news. "Biologists found a diversity of fish species and good quality habitat," Wilbur said. "Making improvements along some of the Eno River tributaries will support continued high water quality in the river."

Next steps for the project are to complete computer models that evaluate benefits of proposed projects and to incorporate public feedback. For more information, visit the Eno River Watershed Plan webpage<https://durhamnc.gov/2890/Eno-River-Watershed-Improvement-Plan> or contact Wilbur at (919) 560-4326, extension 30286 or by email<mailto:Sandra.Wilbur at DurhamNC.gov>. Persons who require assistance to attend the session should call (919) 560-4197, TTY (919) 560-1200, or email<mailto:ADA at DurhamNC.gov> no later than 48 hours before the event.
