Most City of Durham Offices Closed for Veterans Day
Residents Asked to Note Changes in City-Provided Services

DURHAM, N.C. - Most City of Durham offices, including City Hall and other non-emergency City operations, will be closed Friday, November 10, 2017, in observance of Veterans Day. Police, fire and rescue services for life-threatening or in-progress emergencies may be reached by calling 911. Non-emergency problems or concerns may be directed to (919) 560-4600. Residents are asked to take note of the following changes in other City-provided services and programs.

Solid Waste, Recycling, Yard Waste and Bulky Item Curbside Collections
The Solid Waste Management Department<http://durhamnc.gov/832/Solid-Waste-Management> will be closed on Friday, November 10. There are no changes to solid waste or recycling collection schedules<http://durhamnc.gov/DocumentCenter/View/13453>. Collections for yard waste and bulky items<http://durhamnc.gov/DocumentCenter/View/13454> on Friday, November 10 will instead occur on Monday, November 13. The Waste Disposal & Recycling Center, Yard Waste Facility and Household Hazardous Waste Center<http://nc-durham.civicplus.com/898/Disposal-Facilities> will be closed on Friday, November 10.


Durham Parks and Recreation
Durham Parks and Recreation<http://durhamnc.gov/753/Parks-Recreation> will close its administrative office and all recreation centers on Friday, November 10. Recreation centers will operate under normal schedules on Saturday, November 11 and Sunday, November 12. Lake Michie and Little River Lake will be open regular hours Friday through Monday, closing for the 2017 season at 6 p.m. on Monday, November 13. Residents may submit a service request using the smartphone app<http://durhamnc.gov/DocumentCenter/View/15550>, complete and submit an online service request<http://durhamnc.gov/1439/Durham-One-Call> on the City's website, or leave a message at (919) 560-1200. Durham One Call will forward all requests for City services to the appropriate department on the next business day. For information about the City's holiday schedule and any other services that may be affected, contact Durham One Call at (919) 560-1200 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
