Feedback Requested by December 12; Public Hearing Set for November 8

DURHAM, N.C. – The Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHC MPO)<http://www.dchcmpo.org> is seeking public feedback on the draft 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP)<http://www.bit.ly/DCHC-MTP-Preferred>, which will drive future policies and decision-making processes for highway, bicycle, pedestrian, and transit projects.

Residents and stakeholders can now review and provide input on the draft 2045 MTP (also known as the Preferred Option), which shows the highway, bus transit, rail transit and other transportation projects to be implemented over the next 30 years, using the feedback methods below:

· Visit the DCHC MPO website<http://www.dchcmpo.org> and provide comments directly by email<mailto:andrew.henry at durhamnc.gov> by December 12.

· Attend a public hearing with local elected officials on Wednesday, November 8 at 9 a.m. in the Durham City Hall Committee Room, 101 City Hall Plaza.

The final plan is scheduled to be approved in December 2017, which will include projects for consideration to receive state and federal funding through the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The final plan report will be adopted January 2018.

Any person with a disability may receive an auxiliary aid or service to effectively participate in the public workshop next week and the public hearing next month by contacting the City’s ADA Coordinator at (919) 560-4197 or by email<mailto:ADA at DurhamNC.gov> as soon as possible, but no later than 48 hours before the meeting.

For more information about the 2045 MTP, contact Andy Henry with the City of Durham Transportation Department at (919) 560-4366, ext. 36419 or by email.<mailto:andrew.henry at durhamnc.gov> Stakeholders and residents are also encouraged to like the DCHC MPO Facebook<https://www.facebook.com/MPOforDCHC> page and follow the DCHC MPO Twitter<https://twitter.com/DCHCMPO> feed to stay up-to-date on news about transportation planning efforts for Durham, Orange, and Chatham counties.
