Durham Seeks Employers for SummerWork Youth Job Expo

DURHAM, N.C. - Durham employers looking to hire their summer staff will soon have an opportunity to interview hundreds of teens and young adults during next month's SummerWork Youth Job Expo<http://durhamnc.gov/2968/Youth-Summit>.

This year's expo is set for Tuesday, January 16, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Holton Career and Resource Center, located at 401 N. Driver St. in Durham. Employers may arrive at noon to participate. Each year hundreds of youth, ages 14-24, attend this expo to seek summer employment and internship opportunities in order to gain work experiences, build their résumés, and earn income for themselves and their families. The expo also provides job readiness workshops and a job fair for young adults while providing an opportunity for employers to recruit their summer staff.

Employers interested in participating can now register to attend at Bit.ly/SummerWorkOrg2018<http://Bit.ly/SummerWorkOrg2018>. As part of the expo, employers will have an opportunity to make a short presentation to a large youth audience about their companies and available positions. Following this session, the job fair will begin with a session during which employers can provide handouts and information about their organizations and available positions along with demos, displays, and giveaways. Tables and chairs will be provided and there is no cost to employers to participate.

The SummerWork Youth Job Expo is hosted by the City of Durham Office of Economic and Workforce Development<http://durhamnc.gov/446/Office-of-Economic-Workforce-Development> in partnership with Made in Durham<http://madeindurham.org/made/>, Durham Technical Community College<http://www.durhamtech.edu/>, Durham Public Schools<http://www.dpsnc.net/pages/Durham_Public_Schools>, Durham County<http://www.dconc.gov/>, and other community partners.
