UPDATE – West Main Street Closure Delayed Until Feb. 26

DURHAM, N.C. – Due to construction-related delays, the City of Durham Department of Water Management is postponing the closure of West Main Street between North Buchanan Boulevard and Broad Street to Monday, February 26, weather permitting. The street is expected to remain closed for at least a week while the City’s contractor makes necessary repairs. Traffic detour signage will be posted in the area throughout this required closure.

On Friday, February 9, Water Management crews investigated a reported water main leak to determine the scope of the issue. Due to the size of the lines, the difficult location, and the type of equipment and materials needed, the City will be using a contractor to complete the repair. During this work, temporary water service connections have been made for customers in the area while the main line is repaired. Customers may experience minor fluctuations in water pressure during this time; however, service disruptions are not planned. These should be reported to Durham One Call by calling (919) 560-1200, visiting https://durhamnc.gov/1439/Durham-One-Call, or using the Durham One Call mobile app.

Traffic control will remain in place at all times during this project.
