Winter Weather Causes Changes In Solid Waste Collection



DURHAM, N.C. -Weather and road conditions are affecting garbage and recycling collections today.  City of Durham Solid Waste customers whose carts were not serviced today are asked to leave their carts at the curb for collection tomorrow, Tuesday March 13.  Regular Tuesday customers are asked to have their carts at the curb by 6 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Also, the Waste Disposal and Recycling Center located on East Club Blvd will close at 2:30 today.

Public Works Department Readies for Road Conditions
In preparation for slippery road conditions, the Public Works Department currently has 10 trucks mounted with plows and spreader ready to focus on the bridge routes this evening and tonight.  Additional trucks will be available should conditions warrant.


Durham Parks & Recreation Update
Durham Parks and Recreation facilities will close to the public today at 5 p.m. and all programs, activities and events are cancelled. The indoor pools will close to the public at 4:30 p.m. The centers will remain open as scheduled and staff will follow the policies set forth in the weather policy.

Tomorrow, the Centers will open as scheduled but all programs, activities and events are delayed until 9 a.m.
