Durham Hosts Proposed North Duke Street Sidewalk Facilities Meeting
October 11 Drop-In Style Meeting to Collect Resident Input on Design Plans

DURHAM, N.C. - If you live, work, or travel along North Duke Street in Durham, you’ll want to mark your calendar for a meeting next month to discuss pedestrian designs for this street.

The City of Durham Public Works Department is now preparing designs for pedestrian facilities along North Duke Street from West Murray Avenue to North Roxboro Street<https://durhamnc.gov/DocumentCenter/View/20217/SW-50D-North-Duke-Vicinity-Map>, and City staff wants to share their work and receive community input.

The drop-in style meeting is set for Thursday, October 11, 2018, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Braggtown Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, located at 3218 N. Roxboro Street, Durham. Residents will be able to review the preliminary design, ask questions of City staff and consultants, and provide input before the department completes the design work. The goal of the project is to improve pedestrian accommodations with proposed improvements including sidewalk, curb ramps, pedestrian crossings, and associated pavement markings.

For residents who cannot attend this meeting, maps and comment forms to collect their feedback will be available after the meeting date on the project website<https://durhamnc.gov/3309/Design-Services-for-North-Duke-Street-SW>. Resident feedback is due by Tuesday, November 13, and a second meeting will be scheduled for this project at a later date after receiving input and developing 65 percent of the plans.
