Central Park Waterline Replacement Project Update and Two-Week Look Ahead
September 27, 2018
The City appreciates your ongoing patience with the work along the busy corridors associated with the Central Park Waterline Replacement Project. Additional information regarding this project can be found at: http://durhamnc.gov/1251/Durham-Central-Park-Waterline-Replacement.
*Note that there will be no on-street parking on Mangum Street between West Morgan Street and Corporation Street for the weekend of September 29-30. Pavement milling operations are scheduled to begin Monday, October 1 and on-street parking is being suspended to prevent damage to vehicles during the milling operations.
Planned Road / Lane Closures will occur as follows:
* Week of 10/1:
* Mangum Street will be reduced to one lane between Corporation Street and West Morgan Street.
* Corporation Street will be reduced to one lane between Rigsbee Avenue and Mangum Street.
* Corporation Street between North Duke and Mangum Street, Mangum Street between Corporation Street and Morgan Street, and Hunt Street between Mangum Street and Rigsbee Avenue may be closed temporarily for repaving as equipment becomes available.
* Week of 10/8:
* Mangum Street will be reduced to one lane between Corporation Street and West Morgan Street.
* Corporation Street will be reduced to one lane between Rigsbee Avenue and Mangum Street.
* Washington Street will be closed between West Corporation Street and Geer Street.
* Corporation Street between North Duke and Mangum Street, Mangum Street between Corporation Street and Morgan Street, and Hunt Street between Mangum Street and Rigsbee Avenue may be closed temporarily for repaving as equipment becomes available.
Week of October 1, 2018:
* Mangum Street will be reduced to one lane between Corporation Street and West Morgan Street as pavement repairs are made.
* Traffic control signs and markings will be used for all traffic detours.
* Flaggers will be utilized for traffic control.
* Sidewalk traffic will be disrupted.
* Noise levels in excess of the current City noise ordinance are anticipated during work hours.
* On-street parking will be closed in work areas.
* Planned work hours are 7 AM to 6 PM.
* No water or sewer service disruptions are anticipated.
* Periodic one-lane interruptions will occur on Corporation Street between N. Duke Street and Mangum Street as water services are connected to the new water line.
* Flaggers will be utilized for traffic control.
* Sidewalk traffic will be disrupted.
* Noise levels in excess of the current City noise ordinance are anticipated during work hours.
* On-street parking will be closed in work areas.
* Planned work hours are 7 AM to 6 PM.
* Residents and business owners will be contacted in advance of any service disruptions.
Saturday - Sunday October 6-7, 2018:
* No work planned.
Week of October 8, 2018:
* Mangum Street will be reduced to one lane between Corporation Street and West Morgan Street as water services are connected to the new water line.
* Traffic control signs and markings will be used for all traffic detours.
* Flaggers will be utilized for traffic control.
* Sidewalk traffic will be disrupted.
* Noise levels in excess of the current City noise ordinance are anticipated during work hours.
* On-street parking will be closed in work areas.
* Planned work hours are 7 AM to 6 PM.
* No water or sewer service disruptions are anticipated.
