Durham Hosts Downtown Wayfinding Project Introduction Open House
Online Form Now Available to Collect Input

DURHAM, N.C. - Residents and visitors interested in how the City of Durham plans to develop a new downtown wayfinding system for pedestrians and motorists should attend an open house next week to learn more about this project.

The City’s Transportation Department is developing a new wayfinding system to replace the existing outdated program. The wayfinding signage will help people to more easily find their way around downtown, find public parking, and encourage visitors to discover attractions and other community assets. To help with this effort, the department has hired MERJE<https://merjedesign.com/> to design Durham’s new system. MERJE is a nationally recognized firm with specific expertise in community wayfinding.

The department is also hosting an open house to introduce the project to the community, receive information, and give residents and visitors the opportunity to provide input as their team begins the design process. The open house is set for Wednesday, December 12 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Durham City Hall Lobby, located at 101 City Hall Plaza. Presentations will take place at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. For residents who are unable to attend the open house, input may also be provided online at https://goo.gl/forms/JSGVAuIPDd4DhTMr2.
