Durham Delays Opening City Government Offices on Tuesday, December 11
Solid Waste Curbside Collections Suspended Due to Continued Icy Road Conditions

DURHAM, N.C. - On Tuesday, December 11, City Hall and all other non-emergency City of Durham operations will be delayed from opening until 11 a.m. due to continued icy road conditions from Winter Storm Diego.

The City's Solid Waste Management Department has also suspended trash, recycling, yard waste, and bulky services collections on Tuesday, December 11 due to icy conditions that remain on many of the city's secondary and neighborhood streets. The department will continue to monitor road conditions, and a decision on when collections can safely resume will be made tomorrow and communicated to customers accordingly. The Waste Disposal and Recycling Center (Transfer Station), located at 2115 E. Club Blvd., is also closed on Tuesday, December 11. For more information about how to sign up emergency service change alerts, visit https://durhamnc.gov/3025/Find-Your-Collection-Day.

The City's Public Works Department has primary roads mostly clear from today's second round of snowfall, and will now be focusing their efforts on plowing secondary streets overnight in addition to treating bridge routes for black ice. For additional information on the department's snow removal efforts and to view maps of their plowing routes, visit https://durhamnc.gov/3237/Snow-Removal.
