Dear City of Durham Yard Waste Customers:

We want to continue to help our existing customers who may be accumulating large quantities of yard waste while our weekly curbside collections are temporarily suspended, which was done on March 30 to help protect our crews from unnecessary exposure to COVID-19. Therefore, we're providing another weekend curbside collection offer during our temporary service suspension because we don't want you feeling overwhelmed with your yard waste.

Here's our upcoming collection schedule and some important instructions:

* Set your brown yard waste cart out on your curb no later than 6 a.m. on Friday, May 8.

* Leave your cart at your curb until it is collected since our crews will be working throughout the weekend to collect all customers.

* This one-time collection will be automation only, so only place your cart out. Do not set out bags, bulky items, tree limbs, and brush as these additional items placed outside of your yard waste cart will not be collected.

If you have your cart set out by 6 a.m. on Friday, May 8, and we do not collect you by the end of the weekend, please report the missed collection no later than Monday, May 11 at 5 p.m. by contacting Durham One Call and submitting a service request at https://durhamnc.gov/1439/Durham-One-Call (select Waste Management/Report Other Solid Waste Concern) or by calling (919) 560-1200.

Please note that we will not resume charging for yard waste service until we are back to normal operations and weekly collections of your cart.

As changes continue to occur with our collection efforts, we will do our best to keep you informed. One great way to receive direct notices is to download our free Durham Rollout App in the Apple and Google Play stores. We'll also post updates on our website at https://durhamnc.gov/832/Solid-Waste-Management and on the our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages @CityofDurhamNC.

Thank you for your continued patience as we strive to protect our employees from unnecessary exposure to COVID-19. We look forward to resuming our regular operations once it is safe to do so, and we hope that you and your family continue to remain healthy during this challenging time for our community.
