[Ohioaap-practicemanagers] Urgent Care by telemedicine

Our local children's hospital is planning on using telemedicine for urgent
care purposes. They already have several urgent care facilities in our
area. We (several independent pediatricians serving on our clinically
integrated IPA board) voiced strong opposition to this. We are not in an
underserved area.

I can't think of even a few complaints that would need an urgent care that
can be adequately addressed by telemedicine. Cough? Fever? Ear pain?
Dyspnea? Dysuria? All require a physical exam. (yes, most of these don't
require an urgent care at all and we are open until 8 pm M-F, open
Saturdays and Sunday am).

We recommended that they use telemedicine for behavioral health issues
(psychiatry and psychology). Can anyone tell me of some good uses of
telemedicine (other than mental health, ADHD, etc.)?

Thanks,

Mike
