[Esip-preserve] potential NYT editorial on data

All of these are really good suggestions, but I also think it could be advantageous to invite members of these various press outlets to attend our summer meeting, particularly with our focus on "Strengthening Ties Between Observations and User Communities". Extending invitations to the press to attend our meetings may be risky from the perspective of biased coverage in their reporting, but the upside is building relationships that could help ESIP have a greater voice (I.e good relationships could translate to more Op Ed opportunities).

Aside from reaching out to government leaders, you may be surprised how many well seasoned research scientists I come across who don't even know the ESIP name, let alone what we are about. I do my part in presenting about ESIP at various science meetings, but it's only a drop in the bucket.
