Hello, everyone:
I am forwarding to you-all an opportunity to make a presentation on topics related to data sharing and education of water resources data at the Spring Conference of the American Water Resources Association (http://www.awraflorida.org/ ) in April of next year. It strikes me that the Data Management Training Clearinghouse (DMTC), especially with lots of educational resources included on Enabling FAIR data (which we should have by then!), would be an excellent tool to feature. I am pretty sure that I will not be able to attend that conference however, and encourage others to think about it, especially if you are in the area. There are slide sets about the DMTC that you could use with some adaptation, so please don’t hesitate if you think you don’t know that much about the DMTC. Anyway, think about it, and you can either let me know or Liza Brazil from CUAHSI if you are interested or have questions. Thanks!
Nancy

Hi again,
I’m wondering if anyone might have interest in or know someone that might have interest in submitting an abstract to a session that I am organizing at the AWRA summer specialty conference in Orlando, FL on April 22-25.

Open-Source Tools and Libraries for Data Sharing and Education
Session Organizer: Liza Brazil <https://www.cuahsi.org/about/staff/> , CUAHSI
Brief Description: Water-resources research, education, and practice generally requires, among other things, a combination of discovering, analyzing, and publishing data. Community tools are available which facilitate data sharing and provide effective applications in education. We solicit contributions that discuss successes and challenges in using and developing open-source tools that enable community data sharing and education.
An additional opportunity to submit to the 2018 UCOWR/NIWR CUAHSI-proposed session:

Submission Deadline January 22nd
Best Practices for Sharing and Accessing Open Water Data
Water-related research and education requires data tools and resources that are useful, enable transformative science, and have low barriers to use. Tools are often available online and can be accessed through services, thus creating Virtual Research Environments that enhance the sharing of data and tools. Many researchers and educators also favor open data to enable the fluid transfer of environmental observations and knowledge. This session invites presenters to discuss their methods for sharing and accessing open water data for research or education and will highlight the similarities, differences, and interoperability of information technology developed for the water sciences that is essential for data reuse in research as well as in data-driven educational settings.
Thanks and happy holidays!
Liza
