Yes, I agree with Dalia. And to be more specific, I think Lewis should be the one to attend, as he is the committee chair and clearly satisfies the criteria.

Dear Lewis, and all,
My only suggestion is that I hope funding will be extended not only to the person or people who can represent the group very well, but would also be willing to communicate information back to those who will not be attending.
Thanks
Dalia

There’s actually also the possibility of us probably increasing the budget for US2TS. This is based on the fact that we budgeted for 2 GeoSemantics Symposia… this of course did not materialize. We will only be hosting one!
So this changes the possibilities somewhat.
Again, please speak up so we can get a feel for what will best benefit the community.

Subject: [ACTION REQUIRED] Committee funding for US2TS 2020
Hi SemTech,
I want to bring up the topic of the Committee funding for US2TS 2020 https://us2ts.org/ which takes place March 9-11, 2020 at North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC.
The Committee was successful in securing the following proposed budget. It is therefore pertinent that we decide on which indivisual(s) can use this budget to best advance the position of the community.
US2TS 2020
Travel for a committee member to attend US2TS 2020
per diem lodging, 4 nights at $107 plus 20%
$ 514
per diem meals 4 days at $61
$ 244
roudtrip airfare (estimated)
$ 500
registration fee
$ 150
Taxi/shuttle
$ 100
Total travel for US2TS
$ 1,508
I will state that several of us put together a session proposal titled “(Inter)operational Semantic Resources in Earth and Environmental Science” [0].
As March is quickly approaching, and since our next meeting is 2 weeks away, I would like for us to grow consensus around how the budget is to be used.
Having spoken with Pier already, he has stated that he will not be able to attend.
Ruth had previously mentioned that she would require support to attend in person.
I’m not sure about Gary.
I already plan to be in Montreal the week before US2TS so would not require funding for air travel. If I were to attend, I may require support for the $170 registration, accommodation, travel to and from airport and per diem. There is also a possibility that I can source that funding from elsewhere. If this is the case I will update here.
Is anyone else planning on attending US2TS?
We also have our new Community Fellow – Blake Regalia, who I believe could benefit from attending the meeting. The registration page does however state “We are trying hard to keep costs of attendance low and affordable. If you require travel support to attend, a limited amount of travel support grants may become available for students and early-career professionals in January 2020. Please join the US2TS announcement list or follow us on Twitter<https://us2ts.org/contact> to ensure you receive timely notice if and when applications are solicited.”
Any contributions to the above narrative would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Lewis
