Yard waste rethinkingThanks Laura,

Great suggestions.

This is just the sort of ideas that needs to be flushed out with the city staff and solid waste IN A MUTUALLY RESPECTFUL MEETING TO DISCUSS WHAT THE CITIZENS OF DURHAM WANT.

  There are a  number of reasons why I believe there needs to be a different day for pick up of yard waste from when the trash and recycling is collected.


    1.. There would be fewer days with staff, large, slow moving trucks out on the roads at the same time.


    2.  With there only only large can out on the street on a particular day the people picking up the recycling bin will be able to see the bins.

    3.  I would hope that people could than put the yard waste in both the green and brown cans.  This would mean that not as many yard waste bags would be used and there would be less manual lifting by the staff and residents.
