Patrick,

Please forgive my slow speed of posting the following.

Those who've expressed their frustration were not aware of the new spirit of
cooperation I've discovered while contacting your solid waste team.

This past Friday, just two days ago, I confirmed Tom Ayers, and several
others, as the main speakers at the May 24th INC meeting. In doing so, I found
your new team's attitude a refreshing contrast to the past, and a perfect
reflection of your inclusive, and open to input, style.

And Patrick, you should be equally pleased to know that your Department was
displaying this new team attitude BEFORE you posted your comment. Don't
expect folks whose frustration took years to build, to abandon their skepticism,
not at a single meeting anyway.

Do expect as clean a slate as I can provide, an opportunity to show the new
attitude that I am absolutely convinced exists in our city government now.
And this yard waste issue is the perfect proving ground, to showplace a city
that works WITH its community, and not just FOR it.

No, I haven't taken a job with the city, but I will ask neighborhood
delegates to come prepared to form the committee, that will assist in evaluating
the new yard waste proposal. The inclusion we've been requesting has been
granted, let's all come to the table with as few chips on our shoulders as we can.

I hope I can count on the neighborhoods to attend the May 24th meeting, and
be gracious in accepting the invitation extended by the city. Now it's our
turn to live up to our commitment to supply as much assistance as we can. INC
looks forward to this opportunity.

Let's ALL give this a try, shall we?
