Saturday October 1 at 10 AM: Easy urban hike in Durham
with TTA's Juanita Shearer-Swink and local history
buff John Schelp.

Find out about the old settlement of Pinhook, the
area's original transportation station. See where
Durham's namesake lived. Learn where Durham's old
railroad station was located.

Explore the route of regional rail service that will
go into service in 2008. See future TTA station sites.
Try to visualize how the landscape might change.

Meet in front of George's Garage at 737 Ninth Street.
Ample parking is available on the street or in nearby
lots (avoid using George’s Garage limited parking
spaces).

3-mile hike goes past future Ninth Street station,
down hidden gravel road near Duke's campus, through
the exciting development at Liggett & Myers, Durham
Station downtown, American Tobacco, East Coast
Greenway, and West Main Street.

Participants have an option to try out public
transportation by taking a DATA bus back to the start
or keep walking via Brightleaf Square and East Campus.

For more information, contact Sierra Club at 490-1566
or TTA at 485-7430. Rain or shine. No dogs please.

Hosted by Triangle Transit Authority and Sierra Club.
